If you're offering a vocational placement that you’d like to align with academic credit or course-based outcomes, these are coordinated through the relevant faculty or school. These placements are often unpaid.
Please note: An internship can be lawfully unpaid if is approved by the University and/or for academic credit. Learn more via Fair Work.
Placements for academic credit are managed by individual faculties, each with their own requirements and timelines.

Getting Started
You can offer either a paid internship tailored to your organisation’s needs or a placement coordinated through the relevant faculty. Paid roles are managed directly by you, while vocational placements follow faculty requirements and may be unpaid if approved.

The timing of your internship will depend on your organization's needs, resourcing, and capacity to host a student. Student engagement is strongest at the start of each semester and during mid-semester or inter-semester breaks.
Paid internships must comply with Fair Work guidelines, similar to other paid employment arrangements. Unlike casual employment, internships usually centre on a defined project and skill development, often helping identify future talent for ongoing roles.
An internship can be lawfully unpaid if it is approved by the University and/or for academic credit. Please refer to the Fair Work website for further information about paid and unpaid internships.
