Professor Leanne Redman, Academic Director of the Charles Perkins Centre, has been appointed editor-in-chief of Obesity, the official journal of The Obesity Society (TOS), one of the leading sources of scientific evidence for researchers, clinicians, policymakers and health professionals working to address obesity and related health conditions.
As an internationally recognised obesity researcher, Professor Redman has authored more than 300 scientific publications and has led numerous US federally funded clinical research studies focused on understanding the biological mechanisms of obesity and developing effective interventions to improve health outcomes.
“I am honoured to serve as editor-in-chief of Obesity and to continue working with the journal’s outstanding editorial team, reviewers, authors and readers,” said Professor Redman.
“The field of obesity science is evolving rapidly, and Obesity plays a critical role in advancing research, fostering innovation and translating discoveries into meaningful improvements in health. I look forward to building on the journal’s strong foundation and supporting the next generation of scientific contributions.”
Professor Redman has served as acting editor-in-chief for the journal for the last 11 months, providing leadership and editorial oversight during a period of continued growth and scientific advancement in obesity research.

Professor Redman commenced her role as Academic Director of the Charles Perkins Centre in February 2026.
