Since 1980, the University of Sydney Alumni Awards have recognised over 200 alumni for their outstanding leadership achievements. These exceptional alumni come from all walks of life and demonstrate a commitment to empowering progress in their communities through their local, national, and international contributions.
Alumni Award nominations can be submitted by peers, colleagues, friends and family of alumni – if you know an alum who is outstanding in their field, you can nominate them for an award.

The annual Alumni Awards are made up of six Graduate Medals and six Alumni Awards recognising the contributions of extraordinary alumni to innovation, culture and beyond. Each category has its own entry and judging criteria.
The Alumni Awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional achievements of our alumni. To be eligible, candidates must hold a minimum undergraduate bachelor’s degree from the University of Sydney.
Nominees are judged based on their commitment to excellence in their chosen field, integrity, creativity, determination, leadership, resilience, compassion and achievement relative to opportunity.
The Graduate Medals celebrate the achievements of our newest graduates. Each Medal is named in honour of some of our outstanding alumni whose legacy continues to inspire others. The recipients of these medals embody the spirit of these alumni.
To be eligible for a Graduate Medal in 2025, candidates must have completed their degree requirements or conferred/graduated in 2024 from the University of Sydney and have achieved a minimum credit average (65-74 mark range) during their award course at the University (any qualifications with pass/fail criteria excepted).
