Taronga-Sydney Alliance

Conservation through education
The Taronga-Sydney Alliance provides exceptional opportunities to develop expertise in achieving wildlife conservation outcomes.

The University of Sydney and Taronga Conservation Society Australia share a commitment to creating transformative wildlife conservation and education courses. Our aim is to provide you with skills and expertise in animal conservation, vital to securing a healthy future for wildlife and people.

Our innovative alliance enables you to study wildlife conservation courses in a unique learning environment.

Our bachelor course

The Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Taronga Wildlife Conservation) provides extensive training in wildlife conservation.
Taronga is home to the largest zoo-based conservation science team in Australia. It’s fantastic to combine our shared interests in conservation and education with the University of Sydney.
Cameron Kerr, Director and CEO of Taronga Conservation Society Australia

Authentic and interactive learning

Our alliance is the the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and provides authentic, interactive learning opportunities in an environment of working science. You will undertake experiential learning, gain exposure to animal conservation in action, and have access to the wider Taronga Zoo Sydney campus. Our new wildlife conservation courses will establish vital links between theory and practice.

You will be taught by dedicated researchers and practitioners from Taronga Conservation Society Australia – one of the world’s leading zoo-based animal conservation organisations – and by leading academics from the University’s Faculty of Science.
