The University of Sydney and Google have developed a longstanding partnership focused on advancing research, education and innovation in emerging technologies. Through Google's Digital Future Initiative, the partnership supports research projects that strengthen Australia's digital capability and create opportunities for researchers and students to engage with industry expertise.
The collaboration brings together experts from engineering, science, law, business, the social sciences and the humanities to address complex challenges in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity and quantum technologies.
Six University of Sydney-led research projects have received funding through Google's Digital Future Initiative, supporting research that strengthens Australia's digital capability. The partnership has also expanded opportunities for students, with more than 2,000 students participating in the Google Student Developer Community and gaining exposure to emerging technologies, industry networks and practical learning experiences.
The collaboration also supports the Centre for AI, Trust and Governance, the University's flagship hub for multidisciplinary research examining the societal impacts of artificial intelligence and the development of trustworthy and responsible AI systems. By combining world-leading research with industry collaboration, the partnership is helping build the skills, knowledge and innovation needed to support Australia's digital future.
