GOVT6229 Campaigning: Data, Politics, Strategy Description: Students will gain an understanding of survey design, big data, data analysis and interpretation, and the use of data in political campaigns. Students will combine the tools of data science with an understanding of public opinion to study citizen behaviour and craft political strategies. Greater insight into how data can be used in politics is provided with guest lectures by speakers from politics, media and strategic consulting.

Candidates for the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy must complete 24 credit points, including 12 credit points of compulsory core units of study and 12 credit points of core elective units of study.
Candidates for the Graduate Diploma in Public Policy must complete 48 credit points, including 12 credit points of core units of study, 24 credit points of core elective units of study and 12 credit points of elective units of study.
Candidates for the Master of Public Policy must complete 96 credit points, including a minimum of 12 credit points of core units of study, a minimum of 30 credit points of core elective units of study, a maximum of 48 credit points of elective units of study which can include an optional specialisation (18 credit points from one area of study) as listed in the unit of study table and a minimum of 6 credit points of capstone units of study.

Students who complete the credit requirements within a single cognate discipline with relevance to Public Policy will have a Specialisation recorded. Students must satisfy any prerequisite requirements set by the offering Department or Centre, as well as any prerequisites set by individual units of study, before they enrol in any unit of study. Students may complete up to two units (12 credit points) as electives from outside the Public Policy Postgraduate Unit of Study table in a relevant discipline. Students must obtain approval from the Department of Government and International Relations in advance, as well as the approval of the Unit of Study coordinator.
