Infectious Diseases

Honours

Honours in Infectious Diseases is embedded within the Bachelor of Advanced Studies. Students will be part of world leading medical research within the School of Medical Sciences. The one-year program includes a 36-credit point research project giving students access to the latest biomedical technologies, whilst two 6-credit point coursework units will aid in the development of fundamental research and communication skills. To be eligible the student must meet the requirements outlined in the resolutions and have completed any major within the School of Medical Sciences that is relevant to the project. The student needs to find a suitable supervisor and complete the expression of interest form (pdf, 120KB).

Honours in Infectious Diseases is available for a semester 1 start only.

6    A This unit is advanced coursework related to understanding cellular and molecular processes in biology. It assumes background knowledge of cellular and molecular biological aspects of the life sciences consistent with a degree major in Biochemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell and Developmental Biology, Cell Pathology, Genetics and Genomics, Immunobiology, Infectious Diseases, Medical Science, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Nutrition and Metabolism, Nutrition Science, or Quantitative Life Sciences.

6    A Completion of a major in a science discipline. Basic knowledge of other sciences is beneficial. Experience in communication such as delivering oral presentations and producing written reports. An awareness of science in a societal context, e.g., of disciplinary applications.
