Sydney Law School is proud to host the 27th International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot (IMLAM) from 5th – 10th July 2026 at the New Law Building at the University of Sydney. This prestigious global competition brings together law students to demonstrate their legal knowledge and advocacy skills in the field of international maritime law.

Moot problem

The moot problem will be published after 12 January 2026.

Clarification requests must be submitted by 10 February 2026, and responses will be published by 27 February 2026.

Competitor schedule

The full schedule of oral rounds will be published on 16 June 2026.

Team memoranda will be released by 26 June 2026.

Public program

Details of the public program, including the opening reception and awards function, will be announced closer to the event.

There is a preliminary cap of 30 (thirty) teams. However, this is for guidance only, and it is hoped that we will be able to accommodate all teams that enter.

In the first instance only one team will be accepted. For institutions that have multiple sub-institutions, please contact the moot director Tamer Morris tamer.morris@sydney.edu.au for clarification.

No, each team must be from a single institution.

There is a fee of AUD$1250. You will be sent an invoice for this amount and entry is provisional until the fee is paid. The fee must be paid by the time registrations close.

Registrations close on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
