This Council is made up of thought leaders, at different career stages, from diverse fields of practice that legally educated people help to shape. Olivia (Liv) Ronan
Barrister, Eleven Wentworth
Olivia is a barrister at Eleven Wentworth, who practises primarily in public and commercial law. She holds a Master of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Sydney, and a Licenciate in Music (Flute Performance).
Prior to coming to the Bar, Olivia was Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General of the Commonwealth (Dr Stephen Donaghue KC), Associate to the Hon Justice Gleeson of the High Court of Australia, and Associate to the Hon Justice Perram of the Federal Court of Australia. She was also Counsel (Senior Lawyer) in the Office of General Counsel at the Australian Government Solicitor, where she advised and represented Commonwealth agencies primarily in matters of constitutional law and public law. Aside from practise, Olivia is the Chair of the Board of Inner City Legal Centre, and is a reporter for the New South Wales Law Reports.
Michelle Gordon
Partner, Corrs Chambers Westgarth
Michelle is an insolvency lawyer specialising in complex, high-value domestic and cross-border insolvencies and disputes. She has considerable experience advising on all aspects of insolvent estates, with a particular speciality in contentious situations.
Michelle also regularly advises on complex litigation and is recognised for tenaciously pursuing results for her clients whilst providing strong strategic and commercially sound advice. She has acted in numerous matters involving allegations of misleading and deceptive conduct and fraud and has served as an adviser in civil, criminal and regulatory investigations in the context of insolvency.
Qualified to practise in both Australia and England & Wales, Michelle is a member of the Turnaround Management Association of Australia and the Women’s Insolvency Network of Australia. She also serves as Corrs’ partner in charge of graduate recruitment for the Sydney office.
Georgia Dawson
Senior Partner at Freshfields, London; Sydney Alumni Award recipient for International Achievement, 2023
Georgia Dawson is the firm's senior partner and has a background in internal and regulatory investigations, complex multi-jurisdictional litigation, and compliance advice in relation to anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption and human rights.
She has been named in the 2025 Lawdragon 100 Managing Partners You Need to Know and in the Financial News’ 50 Most Influential Lawyers in 2025, their top 100 list in 2024 and their 100 Most Influential Women in Finance (October 2023, 2022 and 2021). In 2021, she was recognised as an ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards Woman Lawyer of the Year and was also named an Innovative Leader in the Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Awards 2020. Georgia has been recognised on INvolve's OUTstanding Top 50 LGBT+ Ally Advocates lists for seven consecutive years (2018 - 2024) and by Stonewall as its Global Senior Champion in 2019.
Georgia is admitted to practise in Hong Kong, England & Wales and New South Wales, and she is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore. She holds a first-class degree in law from the University of Sydney and a Master’s degree in international relations from Cambridge University, where she studied as a Chevening scholar.
Craig Reucassel
Host of ABC 702 Breakfast, Sydney
Craig Reucassel is an Australian writer and comedian who is best known for his work with The Chaser and for going through your bins on The War on Waste. He graduated from the University of Sydney with Honours in Economics (Social Sciences) and Law.
Craig and some friends started the satirical newspaper The Chaser which went on to TV shows like CNNNN and The Chaser's War on Everything. He has hosted three series of the award winning War on Waste documentary. He has also hosted climate change documentaries Fight for Planet A and Big Weather. In 2020 he Directed the movie Big Deal, which looked into the issue of money in politics in Australia.
He is currently the host of the ABC 702 Breakfast show in Sydney.
Kevin McCann
Former Chariman of Macquarie Bank; Former Chairman of Origin Energy
Kevin graduated from the University of Sydney with a BA and LLB (Hons), and later earned a Master of Laws from Harvard University. He began his legal career at Allen Allen & Hemsley, where he became a partner and served as Chairman of Partners for nine years.
Kevin’s practice focused on resource, finance, and corporate law, advising both Australian and international clients.
Kevin has taught at the University of New South Wales and was a founding lecturer for the Solicitors Admission Board. He has remained closely involved with Sydney Law School, sponsoring an annual lecture in Resource Law, supporting student financial aid, and helping raise funds for the Law School’s building at Camperdown.
After retiring from legal practice, Kevin became a non-executive director. He has chaired Macquarie Group, Origin Energy, and Telix Pharmaceuticals, and served on boards including the University of Sydney Senate and the National Library of Australia. He is a founding member of Champions of Change, promoting gender equality in business. His public appointments include Chair of the Sydney Harbour Trust, Director of State Rail NSW, member of the Defence Procurement Board, and Trustee of the Sydney Opera House Trust.
Kevin was made an Officer of the Order of Australia and awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws by the University of Sydney for his contributions to law, business, and gender equity.
Amit Singh
Managing Partner, Mandala
Amit works at the intersection of economics and data, policy and regulation, and technology and strategy. He is a former Managing Director at a major NYSE-listed global consulting firm completing economic research and policy projects in over 25 countries and presented in international forums such as the ILO and OECD.
Amit previously served as the Global Head of Economic Policy at Uber Technologies Inc. based in San Francisco. He was one of the founding directors of Responsible Technology Australia and Reset Australia, and previously co-founded a consumer aggregator startup. He has also worked as a corporate transactions and strategy advisor.
He is member of the National Museum of Australia Council as well as the Independent Advisory Board for Services Australia and the Centre for Australia-India Relations. He also sits on the Strategy and Social Policy Committee for the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
Earlier in his career, he served as a senior economic advisor to multiple Australian prime ministers and senior leaders (Rudd, Gillard, Albanese, and Shorten). He began his career as a solicitor.
Olivia Sioud
Investment Partner of Skip Capital; Board member of Visibuild; Board member of Applied
Olivia Sioud is an Investment Partner at Skip Capital, the private investment fund of Scott Farquhar (co-founder of Atlassian) and Kim Jackson. Skip Capital invests in long term themes in energy, innovative health and data/AI and has backed companies such as Canva, Figma, 1Password, Airwallex and more.
At Skip Capital, Olivia is responsible for identifying and investing in tech businesses, as well as leading investment strategy and support of companies post-investment. She is a board member / observer on companies including Neara, Visibuild, Inventia Life Sciences and Human Health. Prior to starting at Skip Capital, Olivia worked at Boston Consulting Group advising governments and corporates, mainly in the energy sector. She also spent time at Allens, Westpac and Atomi - an ed-tech startup. Olivia studied a B/Laws and B/Science (Geography) at the University of Sydney.
Damian Beaufils
Crown Prosecutor Office of Director of Public Prosecutions; Deputy Chair of the First Nations Committee, New South Wales Bar Association
Damian is a descendent of the Gundungurra people and was born and raised off Country on the Dharawal lands of coastal Sydney. He began his legal career in 2011 as a solicitor at Legal Aid NSW after completing a law degree with the University of Sydney.
Damian joined the NSW Bar in 2016 where he has appeared in a variety of different jurisdictions and acted as counsel assisting in the NSW Special Commission of Inquiry into the Drug ‘Ice’. In 2022, he became the first Aboriginal person to be appointed as a Crown Prosecutor in NSW and is a commissioned officer with the Royal Australian Navy. In 2025, Damian was awarded the Ngalaya First Nations Lawyer of the year.
Camila Pandolfini
CEO of Redfern Legal Centre
Camilla Pandolfini is the CEO of Redfern Legal Centre (RLC). RLC is a not-for-profit community legal centre in Redfern, NSW, with a local and statewide focus that provides free legal information, advice, representation and legal education to people experiencing disadvantage, and drives policy and advocacy for positive change.
Camilla has almost twenty years' experience in the social justice legal sector in Victoria, the United Kingdom and New South Wales. Camilla is passionate about social justice and the role of community legal centres in creating change in collaboration with people and communities experiencing disadvantage. She has significant experience in achieving systemic change, strategic and impact planning and contribution to organisational sustainability and growth.
Lucinda Aboud
Lawyer and Mediator at Mediation Family Law; University of Sydney Alumni Council Member
Lucinda studied at Sydney University Law School and resided at the Women's College in 1977-1978. After being admitted as a lawyer in 1981 Lucinda has worked mainly in the area of family law.
Lucinda became an Accredited Family Law Specialist in 2013 and is a Mediator and Lawyer. In 2014 Lucinda was appointed to the Law Society's Mediation Panel and previously served on the Law Society's Family Law Advisory Committee. Lucinda is currently a Trustee of the Landsdowne Foundation.
Jeremy Chan
Founder of Verity.ai
Jeremy is the Founder of Veraty.ai, a tech company delivering more accessible legal services through AI-augmented human expertise. He completed his LLB and LLM at the Sydney Law School through the generosity of the Ivan Roberts Scholarship.
During his time at the Sydney Law School, he was a strong student advocate - leading the Sydney University Law Society in 2019 as President. Since graduating, Jeremy has worked across government, top-tier law firms, and tech in both Australia and in London. He has developed new policy (Media Bargaining Code), created new technology (Veraty.ai) and published new research (Algorithmic Collusion and Australian Competition Law: Trouble Ahead for the National Electricity Market?).
His wide breadth of experience has given him strong insights into student experiences and different legal careers, particularly as technology continues to influence the legal profession.
