Senior Counsel appointments for 2022

Congratulations to our Sydney Law School alumni who have been appointed Senior Counsel this year.

The announcement was recently made by the President of the New South Wales Bar Association, Gabrielle Bashir SC.

Eight new barristers that have been appointed Senior Counsel were identified as Sydney Law School alumni.

  • Dauid Sibtain, Level 22 Chambers - (BA ‘87, LLB ‘89)
  • David Rayment, 6 St James Hall Chambers - (BA '00, LLB '03, LLM ‘15)
  • Justin Hewitt, Eight Selbourne - (BSc ‘93, LLB ‘95
  • Bradley Jones, Ground Floor Wentworth Chambers - (LLM '05)
  • Charles Colquhoun, Tenth Floor Chambers - (BA '97, LLB ‘99)
  • Justine Beaumont, Nigel Bowen Chambers - (BA ’89, LLB ‘91)
  • Elizabeth Bishop, Ground Floor Wentworth Chambers - (MTax ‘18)
  • Dr Martha Barnett, Culwulla Chambers – (LLB ’09, PhD ’14)
Senior counsel are barristers who have demonstrated outstanding skill as advocates and advisers in the administration of justice. Known informally as 'silks', they work on particularly complex or difficult cases. Prior to 1993 in New South Wales such barristers were known as a QC or Queen's Counsel.
