Join the Sydney Clinical Imaging Network (SCIN) for the 2026 Sydney Clinical Imaging Summit — our flagship annual event showcasing the depth, diversity and momentum of clinical imaging research across the University of Sydney and partners. The summit spans technologies and applications across MRI, CT, PET and ultrasound, bringing together clinicians, imaging scientists, engineers and data scientists to share emerging ideas and build new collaborations.
We’re excited to announce international highlights speakers from University College London (UCL) and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Prof James Cole will share the latest advances in the monitoring of dementia with artificial intelligence. Dr Annabel Sorby-Adams (MGH) will report on the latest clinical studies in portable MRI and how this technology is unlocking new treatment paradigms in the brain.
The program includes keynote presentations from Professor Stephen Tisch, Professor Lois Holloway, and Professor Jinman Kim. Don’t miss the fast-paced research showcase session featuring emerging researchers, as well as research environment updates focused on what’s newly available and how to engage. Hear about the new 3T MRI facility and Cima.X presented by Dr Shawna Farquharson and the Australian Imaging Service presented by Dr Ryan Sullivan.
The day concludes with networking over canapés and drinks at 4-5pm.
The 2025 Sydney Clinical Imaging Summit, held on the 14 March at the Michael Spence Building, brought together leading and emerging researchers from across the University of Sydney to showcase the latest innovations and advances in clinical imaging. The 2025 Summit program once again highlighted the diverse research across medical imaging modalities and clinical applications that form the foundations of the Sydney Clinical Imaging Network (SCIN).
The morning keynote presentations from Professors James ‘Mac’ Shine (USYD), Caroline (Lindy) Rae (UNSW), and Patric Brennan (USYD), set the tone for the day by providing unique insights into the challenges in their respective fields and inspiration to the students and EMCR in attendance on building research teams, working with industry, and seeking multidisciplinary solutions.
Rapidly becoming the favourite session of the annual Summit, the fast-paced Research Showcase was once again a resounding success. 10 of SCIN’s HDR students and EMCRs competed to communicate their research effectively and efficiently to attendees. The People’s Choice award went to Annie Bryant for her presentation on “The highlight comparative approach: Interpretable insights from structural and functional neuroimaging” and the Judge’s Choice award went to Thomas Boele for his presentation on “Quantum-enabled accessible metabolic MRI”. Congratulations!
Networking opportunities were interwoven throughout the event, allowing attendees to connect with colleagues and future collaborators from across NSW, underscoring the collaborative and multidisciplinary community SCIN has created and continues to grow.
