These exciting opportunities will support international travel as a means of building your artistic skills, cultural competence, depth of musical expertise, communication skills, creativity and ability to make use of new musical experiences that will enhance your current studies.

Henderson Travellers Program

Three string quartets will be selected for specialist training, concert opportunities, tailored mentoring, specialised masterclass opportunities, and travel to an international Chamber Music Academy.

Up to eight students enrolled in the Conservatorium's postgraduate Opera program will audition to secure support to collect operatic roles through performance in international young performers programs.  

Up to eight students will audition to secure support to attend the XII. International Summer Piano Academy in Disentis, Switzerland.

Henderson Postgraduate Travellers Scholarships

Through the Estate of the late George Wallace Henderson and Margaret Trevor Henderson, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music award postgraduate scholarships in the following categories

  • Henderson International Graduate Scholarship in Violin
  • Henderson International Graduate Scholarship in Operatic singing
  • Henderson International Graduate Scholarship in Piano

Maximum Value AUD$50,000 each

The scholarships shall be awarded for overseas study, tuition and living expenses to assist in further study abroad at such school, opera house or other music institution as deemed of high international standing by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. The endorsed course of study will generally be at an internationally recognised University or Conservatorium in a program of study equal on standard and duration to those offered by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Applications are now open for 2024. Students must submit an application by midnight AEST, Friday 30 August.
