Our research
We research technologies and systems to cut emissions, remove carbon, and reduce climate risk.
The Net Zero Institute brings together more than 180 researchers from across the University of Sydney who are committed to solving the complex challenges of transitioning to a net zero future.
Our researchers are world-leading experts spanning the breadth of the University including engineering, science, urban planning, renewables, policy, carbon accounting, and behavioural science. Together, we’re researching technologies and systems that address climate change risk, remove carbon, and avoid emissions through zero-emissions energy and demand reduction.
Our research explores new science, emerging technologies and new processes and systems. These are defined by four themes that align with the Australian Government Climate Authority and maximise opportunities to collaborate with government, industry and community.
