Renowned Australian leader Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz has been appointed as a Senate Appointed Fellow by the University of Sydney Senate, for a four-year term commencing on 1 June 2025.
Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz will also Chair the Senate Building and Estates Committee, drawing on her experience as a chief executive in working in property development and real estate funds management.
Chancellor, David Thodey AO, FTSE, welcomed Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz to the role.

Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz is President of Chief Executive Women, Chair of the National Housing Supply and Affordability Council, a non-executive director of Rio Tinto Limited, a non-executive director of Macquarie Group, a member of the Sydney Opera House Trust, a member of the INSEAD Global Board and Chair of the University of Syndey’s Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion @ Work Advisory Board.

A former Chief Executive Officer of Mirvac and Director of the Mirvac Board from 2012 to 2023, Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz was previously Managing Director at LaSalle Investment Management in London. She has also held senior executive positions at MGPA, Macquarie Group and Lend Lease Corporation, working in Australia, the United States and Europe.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Sydney and an MBA (Distinction) from INSEAD (France).
Ms Lloyd-Hurwitz's appointment will coincide with Peter Scott’s stepping down on 31 May 2025.

Peter commenced as Chair of the Senate Buildings and Estates Committe in August 2016 and across his period of service and leadership he has overseen major campus transformations including the Susan Wakil Building and the Chau Chak Wing Museum, student accommodation infrastructure such as the Regiment Building and important improvements to our campuses in Dubbo and Narrabri,” Mr Thodey said.
