Ming-Yen Long AM has been admitted to the degree of Doctor of Business (honoris causa) in recognition of her outstanding contributions to business, governance and social equity.
The award was presented at a ceremony in the Great Hall on Thursday, May 28, presided over by Pro-Chancellor and University of Sydney Senate Fellow, Shirley Chowdhary. Professor Leisa Sargent, Dean of the Business School, also attended.
"Ming’s strategic acumen, combined with her deep insight on stakeholders has driven transformational change across three decades in property, finance and funds management," Ms Chowdhary said.
"Her courageous leadership and advocacy continue to inspire professionals across sectors, reinforcing her legacy as a transformative force who builds bridges between cultures, industries and perspectives."

LinkLong is widely recognised as a trailblazer in corporate Australia, having been the first woman of Asian heritage to lead an ASX-100 company.
A graduate of the University of Sydney with degrees in Economics and Law, she later earned an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney.
She is also a fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Long has been a powerful advocate for equity and inclusion. As Chair of Diversity Council Australia, she championed initiatives to advance gender equality and challenged the ‘bamboo ceiling’ for greater racial diversity and influencing policies to foster inclusive workplaces.
Her contributions also extend to key advisory roles, including the Climate Governance Initiative Australia Advisory Council and the ASIC Corporate Governance Consultative Committee, where she has helped shape sustainable and responsible business practices.

Her dedication to serving the Australian community is also evident in her extensive board service.
She has served as a Non-Executive Director for major Australian organisations, including as Chair of CSIRO – Australia’s national science agency – at a pivotal moment for the country’s innovation future.
She has also served as Chair of AMP Capital Funds Management and as a non-executive director of Telstra, IFM Investors, QBE Insurance, CEDA and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
Long also spent a four-year term on the University of Sydney’s Finance and Audit Committee. In these roles, she has championed ethical leadership, corporate responsibility and governance excellence.
In 2020, Long was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for her service to the financial and real estate sectors and to diversity and inclusion.
She was also named one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence and was the inaugural winner of the 2023 Asian-Australian Leadership Lifetime Achievement Award.
