The 19 June 2026 updated statement is below.
We are investigating potential academic misconduct in a small number of end-of-semester examinations.
We’ve currently confirmed 10 exams have been affected, and are continuing to investigate and determine the extent of the impact, aware there has also been a surge in fake exam materials circulating online.
This process could take a few weeks to fully and thoroughly assess and we've advised students to continue attending any remaining exams, and their plans for their well-earned winter break. At this stage, we do not expect that we will require students to retake exams.
We know this situation is unsettling for our students and are very aware of the stress and uncertainty it may be causing and support is available to anyone who needs it.
Academic integrity is fundamental to the University of Sydney, and any student found to have engaged in misconduct may face significant consequences under our disciplinary processes.
The 10 units confirmed to have been affected are MATH1061, DATA1001, BUSS1020, ECON1001, BIOL1008, COMP2017, CHEM1011, AMME1705 INFO6007 and INFS5000.
