Apple Watch Hypertension Notification Feature
Own an Apple Watch? Quick participation, big impact.

Ever wonder how accurate the Hypertension Notification Feature is? Help us test it. 

We’re running a study comparing Apple Watch blood pressure–related notifications with traditional blood pressure monitoring. 

Participation includes ‘gold standard’ 24-hour ambulatory monitoring and you will receive a blood pressure report. Apple Watches must be Series 9, Ultra 2 or newer. 

Participation

  1. Online questionnaire (15 min)
  2. Visit 1 at University of Sydney campus body and blood pressure measurements, fit ambulatory monitor (1 hour) 
  3. Wear your Apple Watch as normal and measure your blood pressure at home. We supply monitor (7 days) 
  4. Visit 2 at University of Sydney return blood pressure monitors (10 min), optional interview (1hour)
  5. Anwer three emails sent monthly that ask about receiving a hypertension notification (1 minute each) 

A $50.00 gift card will be emailed to you when you finish the study. This is to thank you for your time and inconvenience.

Eligibility

  • Be ≥18 years old
  • Use an Apple Watch series 9 or Ultra 2 or newer which have the capacity to enable the HTNF
  • English proficiency to understand and give consent and instructions regarding HBPM and ABPM device use
  • Must be able to measure BP on both arms.
