The REMDAS-A2 Study is investigating amphetamine and/or alcohol use on memory and thinking.
Have you ever used stimulants? If you are aged 18-65 years old, you may be eligible to participate. This study takes place at the Royal North Shore Hospital Community Health Centre in St Leonards (A short walk from St Leonards Train Station or Crows Nest Metro Station)
After an eligibility screening (including a medical assessment), if eligible and interested in the study, attend one session and receive one of four conditions in a blinded study:
1) study medication
2) alcohol
3) study medication + alcohol, or
4) placebos only
You will complete a series of questionnaires and memory tests, alongside some stress-related tasks (evaluated maths tasks and submerging your arm in ice water for a short time, while videotaped).
This study also involves blood and urine tests for substance use.
There may also be a reason you are not eligible for the study (e.g., a medical condition, or certain medication use), which will be discussed at eligibility screening.
For more information and to organise a time to complete the eligibility screening, submit your expression of interest here.
