Donor Funded Scholarships Privacy Collection Notice

This privacy collection notice applies to students who are receiving a donor funded scholarship during their studies. It outlines what data we collect from you and what may be shared with your donor if you consent to this.

Personal information we collect directly from you

We will collect the following personal information when you complete the data sharing consent:

  • Name
  • SID
  • Preferred method of contact (mobile or University email)
  • Consent or non-consent to share photos, personal narratives and thank you messages with your donor
  • Parent/Guardian name and mobile* (only required for u18’s/minors)

We may also collect personal information you provide about others, such as your parents’ or guardians’ contact details for emergencies. Please let them know if you share their information with us.  If you share information of others in your photos and narratives, please ensure you have their consent to do so and limit the amount of photos you upload. 

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to: 

  • connect you with your donor and share your personal messages
  • correspond with you and inform you about opportunities related to your donor funded scholarship
  • provide you with requested information and services
  • undertake analysis and surveys to help us better understand the needs and preferences of applicants and students

You are not required by law to supply us with your personal details for the above purposes. We will contact you via your student email address with relevant updates but if you choose not to provide the information requested, it may not be possible for the University to provide the donor with information relating to how their financial support contributes to supporting students, teaching and learning. The University will not otherwise disclose your information without your consent unless required or authorised by law.

How we store and secure your information

Your personal information is stored securely in University systems in accordance with:

We will hold your personal information for the retention periods set out in the State Records Act 1998 (NSW) and will dispose of your information securely when we no longer require it for a lawful purpose.
