1. Background
a. This scholarship is funded by an Australian Wool Education Trust (AWET) grant to the University of Sydney to support coursework students undertaking regional replacements in the Sheep or Wool industry.
2. Eligibility
a. The Scholarship is offered subject to the applicant being currently enrolled in their first or second year of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, or any year of the Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience, and Bachelor of Agricultural Science within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
b. Applicants must have successfully completed, or be approved to complete, an eligible Sheep or Wool industry placement in 2026. The placement must not be located at a university farm or be owned by the applicant’s immediate family.
c. Applicants must attend a commercial sheep placement site located outside the Greater Sydney Area.
d. Applicants must demonstrate financial hardship or disadvantage.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. evidence of financial hardship or disadvantage (e.g. Centrelink statement),
II. evidence of Sheep or Wool industry placement, and
III. a personal statement outlining how this scholarship will assist in facilitating the applicant’s placement.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School of the School of Veterinary Science, or their nominated delegates.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued at $500 fixed amount and payable as a one-off payment on receipt of Scholarship Acceptance Form.
b. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.
c. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
d. No other amount is payable.
5. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. does not undertake or withdraws from an approved placement,
III. does not complete or meet the requirements of their placement,
IV. commences part-time study without prior approval,
V. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
VI. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
6. Other Requirements
a. It is a condition of accepting this Scholarship funded by a donor/external organisation, that the recipient agrees that the University may disclose the following information to that third-party for stewardship purposes and in compliance with contractual arrangements:
I. Your first name,
II. the name of Your degree,
III. whether You have met and/or continue to meet the Eligibility Requirements and Enrolment Requirements for Your Scholarship.
