As part of your application you will need to complete the Research Experience Form located here. Once completed please upload the document as part of your supporting documents in the online application form.

Benefits

Tuition fees for up to two years, living allowance as prescribed by the Chinese government, minimum cost return international airfare direct from China to Sydney within program expiry date, visa application cost and overseas student health cover costs, if applicable.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a citizen of the People's Republic of China
  • not working or studying in Australia at the time of application
  • be under 35 years of age
  • be currently enrolled in a postgraduate degree in China and remain enrolled for the duration of your intended research period at the University of Sydney 
  • meet the University of Sydney’s English language proficiency requirements for admission, as demonstrated by an IELTS test completed no more than two years prior to the course start date
  • satisfy the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection requirements for the issue of a student visa for postgraduate research
  • complete a formal application for admission to a Visiting Researcher Program (VRP) course at the University of Sydney and receive an Unconditional Offer of Admission 
  • satisfy any additional selection criteria set out by the China Scholarship Council.
  1. You are a recipient of a scholarship awarded by the China Scholarship Council, covering a living allowance, return air travel from China to Sydney, visa application costs and Overseas Student Health Cover costs, for the duration of your proposed course at the University of Sydney, as per the terms of the University of Sydney–China Scholarship Council Postgraduate Research Scholarship scheme; and
  2. You meet all academic and documentation requirements for the Visiting Researcher Program course, including but not limited to meeting minimum English proficiency requirements as mentioned in the Postgraduate Research tab of the University’s webpage.
  3. You hold a valid student visa for entry to Australia to cover the period of your proposed course and you arrive in Australia and enrol in the Visiting Researcher Program (VRP) course by the deadline specified in the final offer correspondence.
  4. Continued satisfactory academic performance at the University of Sydney.
