Reimagining soil to secure our future

Enhancing the security of the world’s soil

We're pioneering new theories, measurement techniques, practice and policy to protect our global soil resource for the future of humanity and the planet.

For decades, our researchers at the University of Sydney have lead soil resource assessment globally, revolutionising the availability of accurate soil information, improving agricultural practices and enhancing the security of this vital resource

Our researchers have been awarded ARC Future Fellowships, been founding members of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation Global Soil Partnership, collaborated with the Cotton and Grains Research and Development Corporations and worked with a number of soil and agronomic consulting companies via the Australian Research Council.

We have worked hand-in-hand with Australian landowners to distribute and share a myriad of soil science tools including digital soil mapping, proximal soil sensing, farm-level weather forecasting and better soil management strategies that will help agronomists and farmers reduce the cost and time associated with soil management and crop production.

We are currently working with government to develop and implement the new National Soil Strategy.
