Event details

The Partner Engagement and Outreach Team for the Faculty of Science is committed to continuing the popular community outreach event, Astrofest.  Our aim is to provide an exemplary program with components that inspire, engage and educate the community through public lectures, science demonstrations, children’s activities, exhibition booths and the ever-popular telescope viewing.

In order for this high-quality program to be achieved, we will be alternating this event each year with our National Science Week flagship event.

Stay tuned for the next Astrofest in 2020.

About Astrofest

This astronomy festival of epic proportions is an engaging celebration of astronomy and stargazing.

Together with other Australian research organisations, science outreach initiatives, astronomy societies and many others, we have designed an exciting program for an entire evening of free indoor and outdoor entertainment, suitable for the whole family, including:

  • night-sky scope viewing

  • fascinating astronomy talks

  • planetarium shows ($2 donation)

  • expert interactive activities and demonstrations

  • prizes to win

We recommend using public transport to get to Sydney Astrofest.

This year saw over 2000 people attend the night, so be sure and register your attendance so you don’t miss out!
