Commonwealth Prac Payment Program
The University of Sydney is working with the Commonwealth Department of Education to deliver the Commonwealth Prac Payment Program (CPP).
This privacy collection notice explains how we will handle the personal information you provide to us when applying for the CPP.
Collection of your personal information
The personal information we collect from you includes:
- name and UniKey
- Unique Student Identifier (USI)
- enrolment and academic information
- employment details
- financial information including income, wages, and other support received
- documentation evidencing your need to work and income levels
- information about exceptional circumstances (where applicable), which may include health information.
Applying for the CPP is voluntary. However, if you choose not to provide the personal information we request, or if the information you provide is incomplete or inaccurate, we will not be able to assess your eligibility for the CPP and your application may be declined.
How we will use your personal information
We collect and use your personal information to determine whether you meet the eligibility criteria for the CPP Program. Specifically, we will use your information to:
- verify your domestic student status, course of study and placement requirements
- confirm your enrolment in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)
- confirm your need to work during normal study periods
- assess your income against the CPP threshold during your placement period
- assess any other financial support you may be receiving during your placement period
- evaluate any exceptional circumstances that may apply
- process your CPP payments
- meet our obligations under the CPP Program requirements and relevant legislation.
Who we will share your information with
We will share your personal information with:
- the Commonwealth Department of Education and its contracted parties for the following purposes: to assess eligibility for CPP for exceptional circumstances applications, to administer payments, to facilitate audits of our processes and decisions, and to contact you for further information to help evaluate the effectiveness of the program (for example, a follow-up survey)
- the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and other Commonwealth agencies responsible for administering income support payments (for verification purposes)
- third-party service providers engaged by the University for program administration.
We will not share your personal information with anyone else unless required or authorised to do so by law.
How we store and secure your personal information
We will store and dispose of your personal information securely and in accordance with our our Recordkeeping Policy 2017.
