At the University of Sydney, you’ll build practical experience as a musician through performance, collaboration and real-world creative work, supported by the professional environments at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Study at the historic Sydney Conservatorium in central Sydney or at our new Parramatta teaching location opening in 2027

Supported experiences include:

  • Performance‑based learning in professional settings
    Develop your skills through individual tuition, ensemble work and regular public performances, including opportunities to perform in orchestras, opera productions and chamber ensembles.

  • Ensemble and production experience
    Perform as part of major ensembles such as the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony and contemporary ensembles, while building world-class performance skills through hands-on experience in orchestras, small ensembles and professional-style settings. These opportunities prepare you for diverse pathways across performance, music education, conducting and the broader music industry.

  • Rehearsal, recording and creative production
    Work in specialist rehearsal spaces, practice rooms and recording studios to rehearse, compose and record your own music across live and digital formats.

  • Industry engagement and collaboration
    Collaborate with music organisations, festivals and cultural partners through performances and projects that reflect real-world creative practice. You may also have opportunities to engage with industry networks and communities across the music sector
  • Professional and artistic development
    Learn from experienced performers, educators and industry professionals through masterclasses, workshops and specialist training at the Conservatorium.
