What's being glowed up?

While we're Australia's oldest university, we aspire to be one that boasts modern learning spaces, campus facilities and amenities while conserving our heritage.

This year, we've made significant investment in maintance and development to improve your campus experience and create inspiring spaces for you to learn and study. Essentially, we want to make sure you have the best time at uni, inside and outside of the classroom.

From ensuring our toliet facilities are fresh and clean to expanding outdoor spaces for you to study, socialise and relax, there's work happening all around campus to make your experience better.

Enjoy upgraded learning spaces and campus facilities

We know the quality and comfort of learning spaces is crucial to a positive learning experience. This year, we've made a number of improvements to classrooms and study spaces, including:

  • installing new air conditioning in rooms across Education, Badham, Gunn and Madsen buildings,
  • restoring the Reading Room in Holme Building,
  • delivering state-of-the-art teaching labs to the newly built Shepherd Street Building.

We're also addressing some of our most frequently used facilities on campus: toliets. You told us these facilities were not meeting expectations, so we've focused on refurbishing and boosting the cleanliness of dozens of bathroom spaces across campus.

This year, we've painted, updated lighting and installed fresh fixtures and fittings across 55 bathroom spaces, and increased our cleaning schedule of high-traffic bathrooms in buildings like Fisher Library, Law School and Carslaw.

Whether you're looking for a change in study scenery, a meeting spot to hang out with friends or a quiet space to relax, there's plenty of green spaces on campus for you to choose from.

This year, we've upgraded existing spaces with new furniture and amenities, as well as delivered new outdoor spaces. Our newest green space at Shepherd Street Building boasts shaded and sunny seating spots, two free barbeques and plenty of lush grass to enjoy.

Move through campus easily and safely

When you're travelling to, from and through our campuses, we want you to do so safely, comfortably and with ease. Here are just some of the improvements we've made this year to make moving through campus a better experience:

  • wrapped our bus in bright ochre so it's easier to spot on campus and the streets of Redfern,
  • started upgrading elevators in the Quad, Brennan MacCallum Building and Law School Building,
  • installed new and additional lighting in dark areas of campus.
