What does your dream USYD hoodie look like?

Picture the hoodie you reach for on your way to class, wrap yourself in after a long day, or keep long after graduation because it still feels like home. What makes it uniquely yours?

Maybe it holds a memory only you remember, or a story only you can tell. Racing between lectures under jacarandas in bloom. Late nights at Fisher Library with friends who feel like family. Laughing over a meal on Cadigal Green, soaking up the sun and campus buzz.

Competition details

How to enter

  1. Create an original design that relates to the University of Sydney and your experience as a student.
  2. Write a 100-word summary explaining the thinking behind your design.
  3. Submit your design file as an attachment through the entry form by Monday 10 May, 11:59 pm AEST.

Design guidelines

Your design will be printed on the back of a grey hoodie. It must: 

  1. Be a JPG, PNG, or TIFF file
  2. Fit the maximum size: 30 cm wide × 40 cm high
  3. Include at least 2–5 colours
  4. Reflect the theme and show your own personal student story
  5. Not be created using AI tools (must be an original creation).

If you’re using design software, save an editable version in Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator in case minor adjustments are needed for printing.

Please note, we cannot include designs to any other locations on the hoodie e.g. the sleeves or front.

Frequently asked questions

All currently enrolled University of Sydney students who are over 18 years of age can enter the competition.

The competition launches on Monday 27 April and will close on Sunday 10 May (submissions due by 11:59 pm AEST).

There will be two rounds of judging for the competition.

Round one: Monday 11 May-Friday 15 May

  • Entries will be judged by the Marketing and Communications team, our previous Student hoodie design competiton winner, and the University of Sydney Union (USU).
  • Shortlisted participants will be notified by their nominated email address on 15 May.

Round 2:  Monday 1 June-Tuesday 2 June

  • The selected shortlisted designs will then go to a 'People's choice' selection on Monday 1 June, where the entrant with the most votes on the University of Sydney's Instagram channel by Tuesday 2 June, will win the competition.

The winner and runners-up will be announced via our Instagram on Tuesday 9 June.

The merchandise with the winning design can be purchased from USU stores (online and on campuses) approximately four weeks after the winning design has been selected.
