EMUS1661: Early Keyboard Class 1
2027 unit information
In this Unit of Study students develop their musicianship and technical skills to play the clavichord and the harpsichord, concentrating on seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Italian, French and German repertoire and performance styles. Classes will begin on clavichord to facilitate an appropriate sense of touch. There is a strong focus on historical and stylistic awareness through research, discussion, and application, and students will also develop strategies towards autonomous practice. Fluent staff notation literacy and foundational keyboard skills are required.
