This unit aims to develop the biomechanical skills to analyse and evaluate human movement. Biomechanical principles include: kinematics, vectors, Newton's laws of motion, work, energy, power, and momentum; for both translational and rotational motion; and the influence of fluids on motion. Emphasis is placed on developing real-world clinical biomechanical and sports science industry skills using analytical problem-solving techniques and calculations. The laboratory classes complement the lectures; providing interactive opportunities to learn technical skills for data collection, data analysis, and interpretation for a broad range of human movement activities.
