GCST5906: Cultural Studies Internship Placement

2024 unit information

This capstone unit allows students to integrate and put into practice their cultural studies knowledge through work-integrated learning (WIL). Students will undertake an approved internship for direct work experience in a relevant organisation or business, where they will engage in cultural research and analysis through assigned tasks during the placement. Through pre-placement preparations, workshops and assessments, students will apply cultural studies methodologies and engage critically with experiences at the internship site.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Demonstrate familiarity with the applied significance of themes in cultural studies as they pertain in a particular organisational context
  • LO2. Identify critical and methodological issues arising from cultural research and respond to them reflexively and constructively
  • LO3. Critique and develop a research problem that arises from your personal experience of applied research.
