Overview

This unit serves as the capstone unit for the Digital Business Specialisation.The unit bridges the gap between theory and practice by integrating knowledge and consolidating key skills developed across the Digital Business specialisation. It aims to provide students with practical experience in identifying, analysing, and solving contemporary digital business problems. Much of this unit is dedicated to a problem-solving, experiential approach to learning. Students ensure their career-readiness by demonstrating their ability to apply concepts, theories, frameworks, methodologies, and skills to authentic problems and challenges face in the field of digital business.

Problem Statement & Systems Map – opportunity/ problem identification, contextualisation using systems maps/ thinking to unpack its complexity.
Pitch to Partner – presentation of a compelling case for opportinity/ problem and a project plan. Collection of feedback from partner, academics, and peers.
Project Progres – individual presentation by each member of the team on the project progress and teamwork.
Group Report – detailed report clearly communicating the project background, approach, analyses, solution recommendation and implementation.
Presentation to Partner – presentation of the project work with focus on solution recommendation.
Leadership and Professional Identity Reflection – self-reflection on how individual goals on leadership and professional identity developed throughout the project. This is a hurdle task and students must pass it in order to pass the unit.

Assessment criteria

The University awards common result grades, set out in the Coursework Policy 2014 (Schedule 1).

As a general guide, a high distinction indicates work of an exceptional standard, a distinction a very high standard, a credit a good standard, and a pass an acceptable standard.

Credit	65 - 74	Awarded when you demonstrate the learning outcomes for the unit at a good standard, as defined by grade descriptors or exemplars outlined by your faculty or school.
Pass	50 - 64	Awarded when you demonstrate the learning outcomes for the unit at an acceptable standard, as defined by grade descriptors or exemplars outlined by your faculty or school.
Fail	0 - 49	When you don’t meet the learning outcomes of the unit to a satisfactory standard.

Late submission

In accordance with University policy, these penalties apply when written work is submitted after 11:59pm on the due date:

Deduction of 5% of the maximum mark for each calendar day after the due date.
After ten calendar days late, a mark of zero will be awarded.

If you experience short-term circumstances beyond your control, such as illness, injury or misadventure or if you have essential commitments which impact your preparation or performance in an assessment, you may be eligible for special consideration or special arrangements.

Academic integrity

The University expects students and staff to act ethically and honestly and will treat all allegations of academic dishonesty or plagiarism seriously.

We use similarity detection software to detect potential instances of plagiarism or other forms of academic dishonesty. If such matches indicate evidence of plagiarism or other forms of dishonesty, your teacher is required to report your work for further investigation.

Attendance and class requirements

The capstone unit is a project unit and the focus will be on “in class facilitation” as opposed to material delivery.
There will be a strong emphasis on leadership skills and professional development based on proactive participation and engagement.
It is critical students attend all workshops to ensure they achieve the learning outcomes, graduate qualities and deliver a high quality solution to the business partner.
By week 2 students should attend classes, be part of a group and be familiar with the unit expectations, given the first reflection submission is due in week 3.
Students contribution will be monitored during the unit given the high groupwork component. The groupwork marks for each member might be adjusted based on the peer review assessment.

Study commitment

Typically, there is a minimum expectation of 1.5-2 hours of student effort per week per credit point for units of study offered over a full semester. For a 6 credit point unit, this equates to roughly 120-150 hours of student effort in total.
