Students undertaking Specialty Blocks in Psychiatry and addiction Medicine (PAAM), Child and Adolescent Health (CAH), Perinatal and Women's Health (PWH), and Critical Care (Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine). Students participate in a variety of clinical activities in hospital wards, outpatient clinics and community-based clinics. At the start of year 3, students will be working on their MD research projects. The MD project is a scholarly investigation into a topic relevant to health or medicine, leading to a formal report submitted for summative assessment. Students will undertake an approved, supervised research or capstone project culminating in the submission of a written report in the form of a thesis or in the form of an article suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The report will be examined and graded. Students will be required to attend Conference Week in semester 2 of year 4 and encouraged to present their work in the form or a poster or, by invitation, an oral presentation. Students must have achieved a pass standard in their MD Final Report in order to progress to year 4.
