MRSC5048: Simulated and Interprofessional Learning

2026 unit information

This unit is designed to further develop students' clinical radiography skills within a supportive and immersive learning environment. Delivered on campus, the unit incorporates simulated learning experiences, case-based learning, and opportunities for interprofessional collaboration. Students will have access to the on-campus simulation clinic and Medical Imaging suite , allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting. Through a range of structured activities, students will enhance their abilities in complex patient communication, teamwork, and professional conduct. Additionally, the unit introduces foundational skills in computed tomography (CT), preparing students for clinical practice.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. demonstrate effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills in a simulated setting, including interactions with patients and health practitioners
  • LO2. establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with health practitioners, including demonstrating an awareness of your role in the health care team
  • LO3. display enhanced multi-planar image critiquing skills of the brain, chest, abdomen and pelvis and the ability to communicate clinically urgent findings appropriately.
  • LO4. further develop clinical reasoning skills and reflective practice
  • LO5. demonstrate a foundational understanding of the use, design and operation of computed tomography systems, including the demonstration of effective radiation safety practices, and scanning protocols.
