This unit of study covers the technical aspects, anatomy, and clinical indications for magnetic resonance imaging of the body, including cardiac, breast, liver, foetal, prostate female pelvis etc. MR protocols and techniques including sequence types will be explored with a view to gaining an understanding of how to deal with issues such as voluntary and involuntary patient motion. An overview of newer technologies including MR/PET and lung imaging is provided. Topical areas in MR imaging are discussed and learning is supported by websites and video resources together with texts and peer-reviewed clinical and research publications to demonstrate the appropriate application of different MR sequences and modifications required for various patient presentations.
