This unit involves research towards and preliminary writing of an Honours thesis of 20,000 words in collaboration with a supervisor approved by the Studies in Religion Honours Coordinator.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. design a research project appropriate to the scope of a Studies in Religion Honours thesis
  • LO2. apply for ethics approval for the project, if required
  • LO3. clearly state the research problem to be addressed, the aims of the thesis and the significance of their research
  • LO4. work independently to build a bibliography and to collect and define a set of evidence to be analysed in the thesis
  • LO5. demonstrate advanced understanding of theories and methodologies used in Studies in Religiong, such as comparative philology, appropriate to their research project
  • LO6. exhibit an advanced ability to present a clear argument, based on independent research in the subject area and a sound grasp of the approaches appropriate to work in Studies in Religion
  • LO7. respond appropriately to feedback given by their research supervisor(s)
