At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:
- LO1. explore and examine the role of clinical teaching and patient education within the patient safety and quality agenda in health
- LO2. apply foundational health education theory and concepts to the role of the registered nurse with respect to students, clients and health professionals
- LO3. apply and adapt basic principles of clinical and patient education to a variety of healthcare contexts and settings
- LO4. develop communication skills and strategies useful within clinical and patient education contexts
- LO5. determine and plan appropriate mechanisms for evaluating the quality and effectiveness of clinical and patient education sessions
- LO6. identify and discuss the role of information and communication technologies in clinical and patient education
- LO7. develop further ethical behaviours to work with individuals, families, groups and teams in a humanistic and caring manner.
