The Indigenous Knowledge Place (IKP) is a dynamic and inclusive gathering place that brings together dialogue and knowledge exchange from Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities.
IKP provides a hub for current and prospective students, academic and professional staff, researchers, industry and government partners to explore the School of Architecture, Design and Planning's commitment to Country and First Nations communities and cultural practices.
We envision a future where Indigenous knowledge systems are deeply respected and embedded across education and research. Where Country, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices, thrive in environments that nurture collective excellence and personal growth.
Through Indigenised curriculum, teaching and research, we commit to inclusive learning that honours diverse ways of knowing. We build long-term partnerships with Aboriginal communities, grounded in trust, reciprocity and shared leadership.
By strengthening Indigenous agency and leadership, we work towards a just and transformative knowledge ecology that celebrates First Nations cultures.
Our mission is to place Country at the centre of creative practice in teaching and student experience, research and knowledge exchange, and external engagement—guided by Indigenous knowledge systems.
We are committed to honouring the deep spiritual, and environmental connections that Country provides through community and cultural practices.
Through respectful partnerships, inclusive practices, and the co-leadership of Indigenous voices, we aim to elevate Indigenous knowledge systems that care for and give back to Country.
This mission drives us to create sustainable, culturally rich, and resilient systems that support Indigenous and non-Indigenous dialogue and exchange to ensure it is all grounded in the wisdom of Country.
