At the core of INGS is the Global Studies major, a set of units specially tailored to the degree.

Students are able to take a second major from the Shared Pool of majors, minor and electives. These could range from history and politics to music and theatre performance.

Moreover, INGS is the only degree which has a language requirement that can be taken as a minor (equivalent to six units of study) or as a second major.

To further advance cultural competence, INGS students take a semester of study overseas as part of a summer or winter intensive.

The University of Sydney has partnered with renowned institutions all over the world so students have the opportunity to further their studies in a range of exciting international destinations.

The fourth year of INGS builds towards the final path of either advanced coursework, which requires a substantial real-world individual or collaborative project, or honours with a thesis component. For students interested in postgraduate studies, the honours component is the natural next step.

INGS equips its graduates with skill for international career paths across the public service, diplomacy, non-government organisations or policymaking. Our graduates are also working in the private sector, as researchers or even as foreign correspondents.

Armed with a global outlook and critical skills for operating across international boundaries, our graduates demonstrate a high level of cultural competence and are sought-after around the world. This degree will give you an international edge.
