Understanding the social world through digital data
The Lab develops interdisciplinary collaborations at the intersection between social science and data science to support the next generation of HDR students.
Computations Social Sciences Lab group

The Computational Social Science Lab was founded in 2022 after hosting the inaugural Summer Institute in Computational Social Science (SICSS-Sydney). Led by Dr Olga Boichak, it brings together 8 scholars and a cohort of 8 PhD students from across the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Science. The CSS Lab is currently home to 7 research projects that variously contribute to developing a critical understanding of big data and computation in their sociotechnical contexts. Through its workshops, public events, industry partnerships, and network of affiliates, the Lab aims to build key research capabilities in this rapidly emerging field.
