Dr. Raffaele Fabio Ciriello is a Lecturer of Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney. His research articles on digital innovation, blockchain, and social media have been published in venues includingEuropean Journal of Information Systems (EJIS), Business and Information Systems Engineering (BISE), International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS), and International Conference on Software Engineering (ICSE).He is passionate about mentoring and taught courses such as digital work environments, process innovation, and information management at undergrad and postgrad levels. Before joining Sydney, he served as Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen (Denmark). He earned a PhD and M.Sc. from the University of Zurich (Switzerland) and a B.Sc. from the University of Stuttgart (Germany).
Raffaele’s ambition is to understand and improve digital innovation practices for the benefit of individuals, businesses, and society. This ambition has led him to collaborate closely with many organizations for research and teaching, such as Danske Bank, Bizcon, TopDanmark, NNIT, SiteImprove, Network of Music Partners, Avaloq, Netcetera, KPMG, and Deloitte. Besides, he gained industry experience by working as a software engineer for the leading Swiss banking software provider Avaloq.
Raffaele is committed to serving students, researchers, and society as a whole. He earned the Outstanding Associate Editor Award at ICIS, the ITU Award for Teaching Excellence, and the Alma Mater Award for outstanding theses. He has been admitted to selective early career workshops of several leading conferences (ICIS2017, ICSE2017, WI2015, ICIS2014).
He lives in Sydney with a wonderful wife and a beautiful baby boy.
