The Cooee Program is designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander small business owners in remote communities, offering a unique opportunity to strengthen skills and knowledge.

Over the course of a week, participants will dive deep into a range of key business areas, gaining hands-on, intensive experience in person at the University of Sydney. On completion of the course participants will be awarded a micro-credential badge, and the learning journey continues with personalised online mentoring from experienced industry professionals, guiding and supporting business owners to thrive and grow.

All costs are fully covered for successful applicants, including course fees, travel, and accommodation.

The Cooee Program is open to Indigenous entrepreneurs from outside the capital cities of Australia. We welcome participants who are physically remote (living outside major centres) and those who experience social remoteness (limited access to networks, resources, or support). If you’re unsure, reach out - chances are the program is for you.

The Cooee Program will run from 11 – 14 November 2025 at the University of Sydney’s CBD Campus.

There are no associated costs with the program. All travel, accommodation, and meals will be provided by the University.

The course will cover areas such as:

  • Foundations of Indigenous entrepreneurship 
  • Finance and small business accounting 
  • Law, compliance, and Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) 
  • Supply and logistics 
  • Marketing and market access 
  • Managing and recruiting people 
  • Safety and security in the workplace 
  • Monitoring and growth
