The future of professional accounting work is connected, complex and dynamic.

In response, the Business School has transformed our existing Master of Professional Accounting Program into the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance.

This leading edge program will provide you with the skills and experience to bring added value to any organisation in a technology enabled, disruptive global economy.

The transformed Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance is designed to give you strong technical accounting skills alongside key analytics skills,  business acumen, leadership, critical thinking and communication skills.

Co-designed with industry, this program will give you a unique, future-proofed skillset that will help you solve complex accounting and business problems both individually and in teams in innovative ways to drive organisational performance. 

You will develop deep technical and employability skills, gain real-world experience and meet accreditation requirements with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

The fee structure and duration of the program have not changed.

The first intake for the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance will commence in Semester 1, 2023. The last intake for the current Master of Professional Accounting will be Semester 2, 2022.

The Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance has essentially the same structure as the Master of Professional Accounting. It is a 2-year degree consisting of 16 units of study (96 credit points), made up of:

  • 14 core units of study (84 credit points), including:
    • 6 foundation core units of study (36 credit points)
    • 7 advanced core units of study (42 credit points)
    • 1 capstone unit of study (6 credit points)
  • 2 elective units of study (12 credit points)

The Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance is structured to meet accreditation requirements with CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). 

Admissions

If you have submitted an application for the current Master of Professional Accounting program for 2023, your application will now be assessed under the same entry requirements for the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance.

If you have already received an offer for the current Master of Professional Accounting program for 2023, you will receive a new offer for the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance. You will be able to accept the new offer once it is issued to you.

Our Admissions team will be in contact with you to outline next steps.

If you are already enrolled in the Master of Professional Accounting program for an intake prior to Semester 1, 2023, you will remain enrolled in the current program.

No. If you are currently enrolled in the Master of Professional Accounting you will need to submit a new application for the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance. If you have already received credit for units completed under the Master of Professional Account, it will need to be reassessed by admissions.

If you are already enrolled in the Master of Professional Accounting but have deferred until 2023, you can either withdraw or transfer into the Master of Professional Accounting and Business Performance with a re-issued offer by admissions.

Student support and scholarships

We offer a range of support services to help you succeed during your studies, including mentoring, workshop and study groups, and a dedicated careers service.

Our Maths in Business and Peer-Assisted-Study Sessions (PASS) are available and free to all Business School students and will help you strengthen your academic skills. These workshops are highly recommended for those who do not have previous qualifications or experience in business.

The University offers a range of scholarships for eligible domestic and international students.
