Artificial intelligence (AI) and data science capabilities are increasingly important for building globally competitive companies and resilient supply chains.

This micro-credential is designed and delivered by Dr Jyoti Bhattacharjya and her team of AI and data strategy experts, who will guide participants towards identifying opportunities for implementing AI-based solutions to address their supply chain challenges.

The focus of the Strategic AI and Data Science for Supply Chain Management is on practical AI and data strategy development in the context of common issues in procurement, logistics and distribution.

The course will facilitate understanding of opportunities for incorporating generative and predictive AI solutions using real problem scenarios. Participants will be able to reflect on their own unique business contexts, share experiences, and learn from each other.

Participants will also get the opportunity for hands-on engagement with state-of-the-art AI-powered platforms that do not require any coding skills.

Upon completing this micro-credential, participants will feel confident about the use of AI in everyday managerial contexts and understand how to approach investment in AI-enabled analytics for supply chain management. Participants will be able to apply their understanding of the following:

  • Enterprise data strategies for supporting effective data science and AI capabilities
  • Data standards for supply chain management
  • AI technologies for supply chain management
  • AI opportunities and ROI in supply chain management
  • AI strategies for supply chain management
  • Generative AI and prompt engineering
  • No code AI platforms for supply chain data analytics
  • AI ethics, governance and regulation

The content is delivered over 10 live online sessions (approximately 40 hours) during June and July every year.  Some sessions are held on Thursday evenings and others on Saturday mornings/early afternoons (AEST). Specific session dates are typically available around the end of January. Support is available for those who prefer a self-paced learning approach or are unable to attend live sessions due to other commitments (see under ‘Learning support’.)

This micro-credential is designed for business leaders and analytics champions who want to understand the current trends in AI and data science and the practical opportunities for enhancing their supply chain strategies.
 
Our attendees generally include participants from both industry and government. Participants range from executives and senior managers to early-career managers and analysts working in procurement and supply chain management roles. Industry sectors represented by the participants include retail, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, energy, and water infrastructure.

The course e-learning site will be used to provide access to recordings of live sessions, other videos, readings, assessment instructions, etc. Participants who opt for self-paced learning will have access to online consultations to help them complete assessment tasks. Live session attendees will receive assistance with assessment tasks during the live sessions.

The course is delivered in 10 modules, which involve case analysis and presentations in groups, as well as skills development and reflection in the context of a participant’s own organisation:

1. Program Introduction & Workshop – Enterprise Data Strategy and Governance for AI Success

  • Description: This session introduces the overall program and leads into the first workshop which helps participants determine whether their enterprise data strategies and governance frameworks support successful investments in AI.

2. Workshop – Data Accuracy and Visibility for Resilient Supply Chains

  • Description: This workshop focuses on the use of standards for improving data accuracy and visibility in supply chains, thereby increasing the availability of high-quality operational data for AI-driven analytics.

3. Workshop – AI Technologies for Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains

  • Description: This workshop helps participants gain an appreciation for the range of AI technologies that could be applied for increasing resilience and sustainability in procurement, logistics and supply chain management.

5. Masterclass – Generative AI Competency for Supply Chain Professionals

  • Description: This two-part masterclass provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of relevant generative AI platforms and helps them develop their prompt writing skills using many real operational examples drawn from the facilitator’s work and research experiences.

  • Description: This is an optional session designed to provide hands-on guidance to participants who wish to gain platform-based certifications in relation to content covered in Modules 5 and 6.

8. Workshop – AI Opportunities and ROI in Supply Chain Management
