Coding Fest

A university-wide coding event
Our annual Coding Fest event advocates coding culture to students across the university, allowing them to also connect peers and industry leaders in the field.

Our annual School of Computer Science Coding Fest advocates coding culture to students and will be held on Tuesday 23 July 2024. 

Showcase Project submissions will close on Friday 12 April 2024.

Students are advised to use the Coding Fest 2024 poster template (PPTX, 116kb) and submissions can be made online via this link.

Attendees to past events have had the opportunity to network with industry guests from companies such as:

  • Macquarie
  • Google
  • Amazon, and 
  • Citadel Securities.

 

2023 Coding Fest challenges

Applications for the 2023 Coding Fest challenges closed 24 May. 

Join us for a unique opportunity to learn from experienced engineers at Macquarie Group and compete in a 24-hour hackathon from 24-25 July.

The program includes a series of tutorials covering software development frameworks, workflow models, and industry insights.

Eligible participants must be current students at the University of Sydney and have strong programming skills. Awards of up to $800 are up for grabs!

Do you have a passion for AI and social good? In this challenge you'll develop innovative AI solutions to enhance communication between the hearing and Australian Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHoH) community.

Teams of up to four current University of Sydney students with strong programming skills are invited to showcase their method at Coding Fest on 25 July. Awards of $800, $500 and $200 are available.

This is an opportunity to enhance your knowledge and skills in AI, autonomous vehicles, and cloud computing towards global DeepRacer League.

Accepted participants will receive expert support in the lead up to the robotic car race challenge, to take place during Coding Fest on 25 July.
