The Master of Education is for current and future leaders in education in a dynamic climate of educational change and innovation. It is designed to develop and support the careers of teaching professionals, education administrators, researchers and policy makers.
The Master of Education program does not lead to a professional teaching qualification.
The Master of Education is a flexible program, allowing students to specialise in a number of different streams or, alternatively, graduate with a general Master of Education degree.
It is intended for trained teachers or those who wish to better understand educational theory and research.
Master of Education program with a stream
Students can choose to complete the Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies with a stream.
This means that candidates concentrate their studies in one of the designated areas within the program and graduate with the stream (in brackets) as part of their award name area.
To qualify for a Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies with a stream, candidates need to complete the required number of core, selective and capstone units of study required for that stream. The units of study are specified under the specific streams.
The available streams are:
* This stream is only offered at the Graduate Certificate level. Candidates completing this stream can progress to the Graduate Diploma or Master degree; however the Graduate Diploma or Masters will be awarded with no stream.
The units of study and requirements of each stream are available in their respective unit of study tables in the handbook.
Master of Education program without a stream
This approach is best suited to those students who have a broad range of interests and wish to select units of study from across the entire Master of Education program.
The course requirements and units of study for the Master of Education without a stream are available in the course resolutions and unit of study table.
