First Teaching Area
A first teaching area in German requires completion of a major or a minor from the Germanic Studies table of units of study. 
Second Teaching Area
A second teaching area in German requires 24 credit points of language units from the Germanic Studies table of units of study, comprising:
(i) a maximum of 12 credit points in 2000 level units of study in German 
(ii) a minimum of 12 credit points in 3000 level units of study in German 
If commencing at an introductory level in German, a minor in Germanic Studies must be completed for accreditation in German as a second teaching area.  
For eligible units, please consult the tables of units of study for the subject areas of Germanic Studies (Intermediate) and Germanic Studies (Advanced) in this handbook. Availability of these units is subject to change.
