Overview

Mechatronic Engineering is a multidisciplinary field that integrates mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering, systems engineering, and computer science. It underpins the development of robotics, automation technologies, and intelligent products and systems that are increasingly essential in modern society.

Mechatronic engineers apply their expertise across a wide range of industries, including automotive and transport systems design, smart product and appliance development, advanced manufacturing, and non-traditional robotics. The field also spans biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and automation in sectors such as mining, agriculture, construction, defence, software development, and even finance.

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Mechatronic) emphasises systems thinking and design, with core training in digital electronics, microprocessors, computer control, and software engineering.
