We offer a range of comprehensive postgraduate coursework programs which reflect the latest developments within the practice and profession of law.
Our programs are taught by highly respected academic staff, many of whom are leaders in their respective fields, and by well-known visiting teaching staff from all over the world.
Our postgraduate law coursework programs are ideal for those from both legal and non-legal backgrounds. The Master of Laws (LLM) offers law graduates the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised postgraduate legal qualification. Our nine specialist master’s programs offer law graduates the opportunity to acquire advanced legal knowledge in a particular field. And for non-law graduates these programs provide an avenue to gain legal literacy and competency in a specialist area.
The Master of Laws (LLM) is our flagship postgraduate degree and provides lawyers with expert in-depth specialist legal knowledge. You can choose from the entire range of postgraduate coursework units of study offered in any given year by Sydney Law School, giving you the opportunity to tailor the program to suit your needs.
You may wish to select all eight units of study of the degree in one specialist area such as international law or corporate, securities and finance law. Alternatively, you may like to combine fields of study by selecting units in business law alongside those in environmental law.
Our specialist graduate diploma and master's programs offer the opportunity to acquire and develop legal knowledge and skills in:
We offer a huge variety of units of study in many different areas, most of which are taught intensively. This allows you to manage your study with your professional and personal circumstances.
As a lawyer, you will have the opportunity to share classes with non-lawyers and experience a dynamic and interactive study environment.
For more information, see our postgraduate units of study timetable.
We offer the opportunity to take units of study overseas through one of our offshore programs: Himalayan Field School, Kyoto and Tokyo Seminars in Japanese Law, Southeast Asia Field School, Shanghai Winter School and the Sydney Law School in Europe.
Our units of study are available to audit for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points. By undertaking units via the Sydney Law School Professional Plus+ Program, you can simply attend the classes and obtain the CLE points without completing the assessment.
Alternatively, you can enrol in any of our postgraduate law units on a non-award basis. This is ideal for those who do not wish to commit to an entire program. If you complete the assessment, the unit may be counted towards a Graduate Diploma of Masters degree in the future.
