The Central Sydney (Patyegarang) Precinct enables our researchers to develop clinical applications for scientific breakthroughs and then translate these discoveries into new treatments for patients. Our focus on biomedical research, digital health and virtual care are strongly interrelated with the Royal Prince Alfred hospital, Concord Hospital clinical schools and the Susan Wakil Health Building.
In 2021 we formed a unique partnership with Cancer Council NSW. The Daffodil Centre is a joint venture, combining the complementary strengths of the two partners to accelerate progress towards our common goal of a cancer-free future.
The Daffodil Centre is a leading research centre on cancer control and policy, providing timely and relevant evidence to national and international policy-makers to inform best-practice decision-making.
The partnership presents an exciting opportunity for ongoing collaborative, multidisciplinary research to reduce the impact of cancer through primary prevention, screening, early detection, cancer treatment, care and survivorship.
We work closely with our affiliates to provide students with real-world experiences, and indeed the pandemic has forged closer ties with our affiliates and the local health district.
The Susan Wakil Building is a multi-disciplinary facility that now co-locates the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Health Sciences and the Central Clinical School from Sydney Medical School.
The building provides shared, innovative clinical simulation teaching spaces, formal and informal learning functions and contemporary research facilities that will strengthen our position in health, research and teaching.
