The Early Career Women in STEMM Paper and Grant Writing Workshop (ECWW) will provide an opportunity for Early Career Researchers (ECR) to build on their scientific writing skills and gain inspiration from mentors and like-minded researchers, forming a valuable component of their academic career development.

Workshop initiatives

The workshop is designed for women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) and aimed at strengthening the scientific writing, critical thinking and communication skills of Australia's next generation of scientists and academics.

This workshop will provide mentoring, transparent peer review and centralised writing training opportunities that young women in STEMM may not have at their home institutions. lt may also help to increase the number of female academics in STEMM-related departments. ln particular, all ECRs need to complete a significant volume of scientific writing in their academic research positions including grant and fellowship proposals, journal articles, patent applications, and more, which requires critical writing skills for their success as researchers.

This workshop will provide an opportunity for ECRs to build on their scientific writing skills and gain inspiration from mentors and like-minded researchers, forming a valuable component of their academic career development.

The ECWW2026 event is the seventh year of this successful ECR program. Previous year’s events have been hosted at the Australian National University, the University of Technology Sydney and the University of New South Wales.
